I'm Mike Lustig, a Colorado-based public artist creating large-scale, site-responsive sculptures that invite people to engage with their surroundings through exploration, participation, and introspection. My work has been commissioned for public and commercial installations across the country, including projects for Google, Meow Wolf, Hyatt, AEG Live, and the City of Missoula.
My artistic practice explores the relationship between light, reflection, movement, color, and repeated geometric forms. I work primarily with steel, aluminum, mirrors, glass, dichroic materials, and durable translucent plastics, often incorporating layered planes and slow-moving kinetic elements inspired by geometry and natural patterns.
I am particularly interested in how artwork can transform a familiar environment into an unexpected experience. Through reflection, refraction, and the interaction of light with physical materials, my sculptures change in response to their surroundings, inviting viewers to discover new perspectives as they move through a space.
My goal is to create art that is beautiful, dynamic, and experiential. I seek to develop works that resonate with their communities, encourage curiosity and exploration, and create memorable experiences that evolve with the changing light, environment, and movement of the viewer.
